AttrActiOn The Robert Frost Stone House Museum at Bennington College Shaftsbury The Robert Frost Stone House Museum is a historic house museum that preserves and shares the legacy of one of America’s most celebrated poets, Robert Frost. Frost lived at the home in the 1920s, where he farmed and planted an apple orchard. He wrote some of his best-known poetry in the house, such as “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” There is biographical information with photographs at the home, a room devoted to Stopping by Woods, a trail, an exhibition of woodcuts by long-time Frost collaborator JJ Lankes, and a documentary. Visitors can have a picnic, rest in classic Adirondack chairs, and walk among the old apple trees, lilacs, historic landscape that inspired some of America’s most well-known poems. The Robert Frost House was recently gifted to Bennington College in December of 2017. The house has undergone light, historically sensitive renovations. Trails and new content have been added. Special experience: We can offer a 1 hour Poetry Appreciation or PoetryWriting course ($25 for each participant) and a boxed lunch. 10 participant minimum.
